I have a 88 xb2002 that I want to put a V4 on that was for a small xst Allison project I have. It's a 1984 140hp crossflow with wiseco pistons, lite porting, and coned case. The motor should have 120-125hp at the prop. I have a 12in jackplate on it now. I was wanting to hear if anyone has setup a similar boat/motor combo. I was wanting to know about setback and props that are best. I'll have it on the boat in the next two weeks, I have a 21p SST, 18p raker, and a 23p srx but I've never got it to good on any boat, might get it worked, the srx has always had way to much slippage. Any info or tips would be great. I know Mr. Allison had a light weight xb2002 with a 90hp v4 years ago that ran around 65, but I can't find much info about it. Thanks

That was my boat...Darris told me it had 26 inches of setback when he had a Yamaha 90 on the back of it . Not sure what he had for a prop. If I had to guess something from hoss propellers maybe . He was talking about how hard you could turn the boat and how well it handled with that setup . If you could speak with him he seemed to remember it all very well.

John Tiger got 76 with a 115 Evinrude on an SS2000 in Trailer Boats back in 1999. 26 Laser 2. Maybe he'll chip in and say how much setback. Adding a nose cone, raising the engine, and a 30 over hub prop got it to 80.

That's awesome speeds for a little motor. I'd love to get mine to run 60-65mph. Mine is a 88 tournament, not sure what it weighs. A few years back I had a 115hp tower on my 17 xst with a 24p chopper and it ran mid 60's and got there fast.

My buddy just rigged one week before last with a 77 140 that is stock other than a set of fitch reed cages with Boysen reeds. His boat weighs 850 without the motor right now he's running 10 inches of set back and 14 1/2 x 26 4 blade Signature Yamaha style prop best speed so far is 71.We think it needs some more setback maybe back to 14".

Yea that's on GPS. Haven't tried any other props yet but he has a 25p Hoss Wasp that he got from Steve Smith that he ran on this motor when it was on his Vector and it was 5mph faster than the 26 4 blade on the same boat. This Allison weighs 40 lbs more than the Hydrostream and is 2 mph faster with the same motor and prop. He also has a 26 big ear chopper a 27 rx and a good 24 et he is going to try. Here is a photo running last weekend second time in the water . (FYI that's a v-4 under a v-6 hood).

That's awesome, I'd be happy with 65mph. My steering for it should be here this week. Looks like I'll have to get some props rehubbed. What gear case is he running?

In fear of speaking out of my turn, I'll say that the v4 gearcase with a cone is a fast one.. If its healthy, you'll never hurt it with a v4 powerhead

Running a v-4 case with a v-6 prop shaft had to cut the cavitation plate off to clear the
14 1/2" props though.

The boat Jim Tiger ran 80 with was a SS2000R. The boat was a 630lbs SS. I ended up with it and had it weighed. Ran good with a 280 also! Good luck with the set up it should be a fun ride.
