I'm a first time Allison owner and would like some input on setup. I've got a 1992 XR 2002 with a 20" Merc. 260. The person I bought it from seems to have the boat setup pretty good. But being a first time owner I'd like some opinions about how much setback, engine height and what kind of props are people using on these things and what kind of speeds.

Thanks for any info.

I own a xb2003 with a basically stock 2.5-200. I think most of the allison's run about even with the pad on the prop shaft. The recomended setback on it is 14-1/2". I think from looking on here your 2002 needs less setback, like 10 ". An et would probally be one of the faster wheels you could run. The 2002 boat is about 300#'s lighter and therefore faster than the xb03. You should run in the high 90's.

you are correct Dusty, you prob dont want to run that much setback on that rig, but im not sure, someone who knows about those xrs will help you out better. but prob around 6 to 8 " and run even with the pad turning a 26 or 28 et depending on what your wanting to do.

am i close???????

You could go to the front page of Allison Owners and click on XR2002's and see how some others have theirs set up.

Hack has the right idea..check the owner's page on the XR2002's.

I think 6" to 8" is in the ballpark for setback, these are the numbers most people use and Darris recommends for the XR2001's. My XR2001 is set at 6" and I like it there.

Welcome to AllyWorld!!
