After 5 years my BoatMate steel tube trailer just rusted away. A couple of years ago I bought an aluminum trailer that works very well but it's not pretty enough for an Allison. Anyone know how to prep, and paint an aluminum channel? I've painted boats and cars so I can make it look good but I need to know what will stay on for a long time. Don't think I can use the same primer that you use on a car. Thanks

The best I can tell you is what they use at work on jet aircraft.

Zinc Chromate or epoxy primer and Polyurethane paint. I'll ask the guys tomorrow for sure and post back.

First you use an aluminum etchng acit, then alodine, and prime it with epoxy primer. I use to paint aircraft. :D

Just follow the label and use proper protective gear. 8)

Yes again to what forkin said. Acid etch, allodine, and epoxy primer. Any automotive paint store that handles PPG, Ditzler, paints will have it all. Butch Leslie
