Would like to see some console dash pictures where the gauges etc have been replaced.

It's just a flat piece of aluminum with the faux carbon fiber.

Hole saws, jig saw, drill and measuring tape.

Here's something to fix holes that no longer hold a screw tight. Found at a hardware store a Tee Nut basically a threaded flat washer. Double sided sticky tape and the correct screw. I used this to install the new dash.

looks like a really cool idea for a winter project!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of aluminum, that way I can do as you did and use the gauges that I want to in the locations I want them. Did you use the factory dash piece as a template for initial cutting of the aluminum?

Where did you get the faux carbon fiber material? Do you have the web site??

Thanx also to XB2003 for his post. The more ideas the better! :) Hope others who have done this will also post!!

When I re-did mine last winter I used lexan bought from Home Bo Bo. The lexan was real easy to work with, shaping the rounded edges was easy on a grinding wheel. I then bought a small roll of carbin fiber decal material from a place that does car bodies and just stuck it on the face.

I saw no use for the 4" depth finder seems how it didn't work and you can't buy one that size anymore. I did several layers of fiberglass from the back side to fill the hole in the dash and re-drilled for the 3 new 2 1/8" gauges. If you use a flat piece of lexan pushed up on the front side you get a nice flat surface.

This is neat stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-XkNFL_OKw

If you do contours buy and use the 3M primer. The pen is what I used but it is a one shot deal. It's a glass vial that you crush and then quickly use before it dry's up.

I'm toying with buying the faux mini diamond plate and covering the wing on the back of my Prius.

I screwed up the first time and saved what I had used and made these for the cowl.
