Blowout ring

Okay just bought a second motor for my xb21 and the blowout ring has been removed on the lower unit. Talked to titus and he said as long as it is square and not rounded of that it was okay, that on a case he builds just for top end he would remove it anyway. All of my other cases have always had it modded or not. I run around 3/4" above on my setup. Any knowledge in this area? Thanks Bob

My sporty has the stock blowout ring so no first hand knowledge but I do know that when Robbie Paterson works a sporty for the xb-21 he grinds the bottom half of the blowout ring off. So you may be fine without it.
