Right now, between the plate and a Land and Sea hydraulic plate,I have 9 inches of setback.I'd like to go to a single plate.I would appreciate anyone's advice on whether to buy an 8 or 10 inch(I can't find a 9).Thanks,Tom.Oh yea,the engine is a Yamaha ProV 200 which,I've been told, is around fifty pounds heavier than a Merc.

Tom, I have a land and sea plate on a 10 inch r and r slidemaster with a 200 merc. Not much help though if you want to run one plate. The set up works good for me. I got a good price on the slidemaster from pitstop marine.

I know people will argue you this but a carb yammie 2.6 isnt any heavier. And if t is its not worth talking about.Depending on what cowl you have makes a difference for sure. The older ones in the 80s were a fraction the wieght of the newer style.Go with a 12" and be done with it been it. I had a yamaha 225 and 12 inch set back and now have a mercury 225x no difference on the the back.Aaron
