Yes,

My oldest daughter can shoot and know where the ready weapons are located. Youngest will be taught soon enough. Both were taught about firearm safety.

My girls do not to touch a firearm unless dad gives it to them. There are no realistic looking toys in the house (air softs are terrible). I have further told them to tell an adult if they are at a friends and one of their children is handling a firearm, even if they think it is a toy. Safety first and safety last. I think if you own a gun you should teach everyone in the house about it. If they do not like guns this is ok, however they need to know how to use the weapon and where it is located.

I hate reading stories about irresponsible parents leaving guns unprotected and the kids not knowing better and handling them and accidentally shooting / killing themselves or a friend. My kids are allowed to see, hold, the guns as long as they ask and I provide it to them. They know the destructive power, based on a demonstration I perfromed with a can of red spray paint.

Teach your kids, teach the family, but teach them safety first. 4 Simple rules

ALL GUNS ARE LOADED
KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF OF THE TRIGGER
NEVER POINT A WEAPON AT ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND THE BACK STOP

I'm getting off my soap box.
