I have a couple small spots I want to touch up the gel coat. How warm does it need to be? Is 50 good enough or would 70 be better? I don't leave the heat on in the garage most of the time.

For small repair spots you will be able to get away in cold weather by using a small ceramic portable I think. I would warm the area up before applying and then leave the heat on it till it kicks.
