I need a new trolling motor. I'm tired of looking for parts for my omc babies. Anything new comparable for the weight around 70lb thrust. I have two omc's in the shop now.

Really only two options if you're buying new. Motorguide is lighter, but I've been much happier overall since I switched to MinnKota.

Ok but we talking on a 03 :)
A 82lb or less? I had a 82 tour prior and it's was so heavy

Motorguide will be lighter , a pro series 70? Is perfect if your not in strong current all day. The weight and the size of the minkota pedal suck, it takes up half the deck lol.

You could always save weight by going with a hand control.......

But personally, I'd put the trolling motor that you like best on the boat, and not worry about weight. Mount it on a removeable plate and pull it off when you aren't using it, and then the weight isn't an issue for play days.

I spend the majority of my time on the water running the trolling motor, so I won't skimp there or mount one that I'm not completely satisfied with, just to save weight.

With an 03, a 60-70 lbs thrust trolling motor is plenty, in my opinion.
