I never replaced one before, is it pretty easy? It is a 1996 Supermag 225 with a sportsmaster gear case. I'm very mechanical and work on cars all of the time and do most of the simple maintenace on my Allison. I pulled the lower unit off and was replacing the water pump impeller and did a lower unit oil change. Noticed some water in it. Upper seal is fairly easy and strait forward but any tips on the lower seal?

Thanks,

Had mine done by my local shop because from what I understand there's some job specific tools required. The retainer that screws in and holds the carrier in place needs some ridiculously high torque from what I'm told.

Why not have it pressure & vacuum tested so you know for sure what, if anything, is leaking. Could be the dreaded shift shaft seal too.
