quad IV OB prop hub assembly

Today I purchased a Mercury Racing Prop Hub Assembly kit "heavy duty" for my new Quad IV OB prop which I received yesterday in the mail. It is a beautiful prop.

When I put the "tube" into the prop, it had some play in it. I could turn it right or left about 1/8 to 1/4 inch each way. Has anyone experienced this? The numbers on the hub insert are 840237-C. This assembly came in a box that had the number 840389k06. What's up? Is there anything to this? Thanks. Robert

It should fit snug..
Does it have 4 rubber strips on the outside of the hub insert ??

Robert, none of my props fit the hub really snug as I slide them on the hub assembly. They have a "little bit" of play in them until the nut begins to snug. The back (next to the gears housing) of the prop fits good but the nut side doesn't fit tight until the nut is snuged. It's the nature of solid HD hubs from what I understand. You should call Todd and ask him to be sure.
