I've had the best luck at 8" with a high perf merc. 6" with a 20" motor. The boat is real picky. The white and purple boat we took to the rally was 8" with the promax on it (15" center). The 15" motor has less lever arm so it needs a litle more than the 20" motor.

This last year I was running 6" on mine and loved it. I recently mounted a 3" plate just like the one I put on my 2003 but have not had a chance to run yet. I feel I can make it work and it will have a great wholeshot which was already good with the 6" plate. Different strokes for different folks.
