Jimmy Hill and Tim Case will be track directors this year. There will be five classes: 6.00-6.99, 7.00-7.99, 8.00-8.99, 9.00-9.99 and 10.00-10.99. Questions, call Jimmy at (405) 613-2709 or post your question on 'Summer Thunder' thread in the Board at www.DQRacing.net. DQRacing is a sponsoring website for OKCDBA. We are just in the begining stages of developing our new site so 'pardon our dust' but the Board is up and running!

Re: Summer Thunder 2010 in the Heart of Oklahoma, Purcell, will be 14,15 & 16 May 201

Hello racers. My name is Jimmy Hill. I am the track director for Summer Thunder 2010 in Purcell, OK. (405-613-2709) Here are a few answers to questions I have been asked:

Entry fee $350.00: $300 goes to the class, $50 goes to the track setup crew

ie, 20 boats in a class- $6,000 pay back

Five classes- 10.00-10.99, 9.00-9.99, 8.00-8.99, 7.00-7.99, 6.00-6.99

Test N Tune- May 13, 2010 Qualify- May 14, 15, 2010 Finals- May 16, 2010

Jet-a-ways or pump release systems are required for the 7 & 6 sec classes

Race packet includes one vehicle pass, driver band, three crew bands. Additional crew bands are $10.00. Additional vehicle passes are $25.00. All four-wheelers, golf carts, pit bikes, etc. are required to have a vehicle pass. You must have a drivers license to operate a pit vehicle.

There are some rv hookups. These are available on a first come first served basis. $50/nt

Boats will be called to the ramp at 7:30 a.m. We will run boats until 5:00 p.m.

Our Summer Thunder goal is for this race to be a racer-friendly event. One of the advantages to our race is that the workers who set the track up and who run the evet are also racers, and are very familiar with the glitches and requiremets of a boat race. We want our race to run as smoothly as possible so we are very open-minded to racer's suggestions.

Thank you very much,

Jimmy Hill

Rocket took sweet and sassy to two rounds of winning then the timing equipment broke down for the track. They called the race and the top 4 in each class split the money. The 1st place finish would have been nice but not a bad payday and the only outboard in the entire race!! That Allison, driver, and crew have got it dialed in for sure!! Congrads to all of them. "Better go get them up so they can go to work and pay into my social security??" have fun be safe

Bullsh*t, nobody ever did it without spray, so stop talking your bullsh*t. Your talking to people who know, not people who just read sh*t on the internet.;)

Mumford does not spray. This race that we qualified #1 in Purcell is 1000' feet not 1320. Bill is right about any outboard that can run any lower ET in a quarter mile has to spray. We don't spray either. We run in the 10's in 1320' like all the others that don't spray.

Re: Summer Thunder 2010 in the Heart of Oklahoma, Purcell, will be 14,15 & 16 May 201

Drew, like Jim said Rocket was only running 1000' on the rope, as far as running 9's in a 1/4 mile there may be <5 boats that could do it BUT we just have never seen it. Dave Bush, Caldwell, Srnec with their carbon fiber Ally's and who know who else. Please don't forget that we are talking full size boats not a Hydro I have seen Jim Dunn in his Pugh Hydro run 8.3 on ALL MOTOR!!!!! and thats in a 1/4 mile. We are talking Allisons, Mirages, STV's Quartershots, Triads etc. The quartmasters will get into the low 9's on motor but not low enough to run 9.0s which is usually what it takes to win.

I would welcome those guys that make that BIG HP to come and try it to prove me/us wrong but I don't think they are interested in our kind of racing, it would be fun to watch tho.

For those that could run 10's we are going to race for a LOT of $$$$ in Ky, come try it you might like it!!!!!

yup i missed that part.... think u guys for clearing that up... i still think with a good set-up an outboard w/ no spray could go 8's maybe not low 8's but high 8's

Re: Summer Thunder 2010 in the Heart of Oklahoma, Purcell, will be 14,15 & 16 May 201

All I have to say about a full size boat like Allison, STV, Triad, and Mirages going even in low nine's with no spray is highly impossible in a full quarter mile. I have not seen it in all my years of being around racing. I have seen some bad *** nitros boats and they could not run low nine's. Mid to high nines is possible but not low where you have to be, to be competive in the nine second class. Like Rick said, there are some that can run pretty close to a low nine but they are very highly modified. The 10 second class is where there are more boats entered at most races so there is more money to be made. The more the better chance of making a few dollars. I like racing but I like money also and not Plaques or T-Shirts for winning.
