Hi all,

I did my homework on the owners page and believe I should be running a 26" or so prop.

BUT, what it doesn't say is what gear ratio I should have in the CLE???

I'm gettin a CLE built now and need to know :)

I had a 22" Lightning ET on the old 200 (with CLE) and turned it to 7200rpm to get 74mph or so, and I never knew what the ratio in it was.

Ideas?

Dave,

You should have a 1.87 : 1 set of gears although you could, optionally, get 2:1 gears.

With either, pulling a 14.5" X 28 pitch, over the hub style (chopper) prop would be in order.

I had a very early XTB 21 powered with a box stock 200hp/2.4 liter Merc and a CLE w/1.86 gears and she'd break out of the hole just fine and run 81 w/two fishermen and a full load (she'd run 86 w/light load and one fisherman).

PS: I could pull 6800 rpm but slip was kinda high

Thanks Froggy :big grin

Your speeds are great - but it makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong!

Down here it's not like I can take it to someone to help me, the knowledge base with Allisons is pretty slim considering there's only 2 fishing Allisons in the country!

My old XRI 200 even 1 up with no gear was only at 76 or so. I did see 80 once only with a tail wind and tidal movement :laughing

I'll keep playing and see how I go.

Dave
