93.2 at 6750. I was a little sad to be on the limiter but it ran great! Good on of the hole for a 28/29 and super easy to drive. I guess I've got to find a 30 to get any more right now. I may have a 28 Re3 coming up for sale shortly. Won't need it now:big grin

I wish I could get those speeds outta my 28 ET at those rpm's. Most of the 28 ET's I've had would run around 90-91 at best at around 6800 rpm's but my current one only hits around 88 into my son's limiter at 6850. Time to be shipped off for some work I guess. Do you know if your ET is stock or had it been worked at some time?

That's actually good to hear. I was hoping to see 94 and I think I'll get it with a little playing. I have to thank Jay Martin and Jared (XB03). Jay worked the prop to turn less RPM's on his yamaha. I'm sure he squeezed all of it out. Hopefully Jared will chime in shortly, he ran it a few times on his 03 and never liked it. Now it's a keeper and I'll have it at the Rally for sure.

Ok........that makes sense then if it was stiffened up a bit. I think I'm on my 4th 28 ET and none of them ran the speeds yours does......Great running! Maybe I'll feed mine a few Viagra pills before I send it out.......LMAO.........that outta stiffen it up!

Thats some good running Shane. When I ran the prop it went 85 gps @ 6750 and 91 @ 7150. I think if you raise your limiter that prop will fly.

Jared, is this exactly the same prop with no further work done to it since you had it???

Joe, sounds like exactly what my old 30 ET did with the 225X into the limiter at 6850, 94 even was right where it topped out.

For an all out top end what do you guys think. I know the OG owner of my 03 had a worked Mazco RE3 that ran 97. I'm thinking a 31 re3 might be a good top end only prop. I don't really want to raise the limiter but... If I did what's the most you can safely spin a stock promax?

Who knows?........tough question, my limiter was raised to 7300 and I spun it to 7240. It's funny though, after having it raised, it rarely went over 6850 rpm's anyway. At some point, the top speed becomes little other than bragging rights, and if you keep going out there time and time again trying to set a new personal best, you are probably asking for trouble for either your motor, or more importantly, yourself. Just my opinion of course. Personally, if I just had to keep trying for a higher number, I would do it with less pitch. I'm convinced the higher pitched props spinning on an XB2003 at pretty higher rpm's are not as safe as slightly less pitch, spinning yet higher rpm's.

Bob its the same prop, Jay worked it after I ran it. So, its much faster after Jays touch.

I've spun my 98 promax to 7300 a few times with small props, I was told 7500 max. Yeah, if you want top end I would do as catfish said "spin a smaller prop at a higher rpm, and IMO I think you have the right prop to spin 7000+ and get upper 90s.

It is funny.... I have a 28 with some extreme work.... I have been running to break in the 280. Rpm 4500 @ 63 mph... I buzzed it up to 6000, but my gps crapped out. I couldn't imagine buzzing this thing 7250, but I think that it is was built for........
