Driving thru town the other day and caught out of the corner of my eye an a-bote going the other way with a Mercury Verado hanging off the back. I think it was behind Glenn Reynolds truck. Anybody seen that thing? Wonder how it does for performance and/or fuel economy?

Saw it today! It's Merc's new 4-stroke, 3.0L, 2 valves per cylinder, naturally aspirated 150hp. Wet weight was supposed to be 465lbs. Glenn says it runs 75 with a 28 ET at around 5900rpm with 1.92 gears. Stock lower unit. Supposedly 7.5mpg at 50-55mph. Anyway, I found it. I knew I wasn't seeing things, haha!

I think so. I think they removed the power steering and some other things to lighten it up. If only you could figure out how to shoehorn a blower in there and make it last.

Yep that would be the ticket!! Im sure some tuner kid could figure it out. There getting hudge HP from 4strokes these days with superchargeres.

Glens 03 looks pretty sweet with that Verado on there!!
I think the 200 is a similar weight as the 150? Then it goes way up.

The 200 4 cylinder weighs 510lbs (which according to Merc's site is the same weight as the 150.), it has a 2.08:1 gear case and full throttle RPM's are 5800-6400 and it runs on 87 octane.

I am still a fan of the 2-stroke but the boat Reynolds has at the show looks really good. Plus it would hurt alot of rangers, skeeters etc...at the ramp when I went past them with a 4 stroke 150...:LMAO:

Probably the same block, but the fact that it went to a SOHC would pull alot of weight out of the head as well. If they kept the DOHC, I would figure on it being 10 or so lbs heavier than the new one, if they lost the blower.

I'd love to see a comparison test of the Merc 150 4 stroke, 150 Verado, and 150 Pro XS. Besides being lighter, I bet the Pro XS has the best acceleration.
