Hi xb03xf,

That's some good information. I haven't tried any props for sometime. Sounds like I need too! The only thing I have been disappointed in with mine is the hole shot. I been tell the wife a 300xs will cure the problem. lol.

Well I did get to fish with lake wind advisory conditions between storms...2 adults + 40lbs extra tackle plus my stuff which completely fills both front side compartments, 15 rods, 10lb anchor, medium size cooler, and full tank of gas, all 8 pvs holes open allowed me to hit 6k during breakover! I put the larger hole plugs in the outer 4 holes and would only spoon up to 3900 but 3.5 seconds was not to bad. I will remove 1 more and test again soon. Never had a chance to do any topend running tho...25 mph gusting winds are not the right condition.

I just ordered a Bravo XS 29.5 for my XB21 2 seater 250 sport XS 175 gear. I missed it in your post what are you running?

I'm running Bravo XS 28. I have 1.87 gears on my 2.5XS. Loaded down heavy with 17 rods, livewell full, 40+ Plano 3600 boxes, 10# anchor, full tank of gas, 40# shot bag, medium cooler packed with ice and water I hit 83.2 @6500 on a 90 degree humid day running by myself. Not bad for a little 225 hp.

That's great. Didn't know the 2.5XS was 225 HP, I thought they were 200 HP like the 200 XS....

2.5XS was supposed to be the next in lineage after they discontinued the 225X in 2004, but it only had a 1-yr run. Most of the dyno claims I've seen said ~235.

Yes, most 200 are close to 220-225 and the famed 225 promax were stout 240-245....so if it is that close to a promax that's a great engine

Outboard MFGRS. have to adhere to a 10% +- claim to motor ratings. So a 200 can be no more than 220h.p. and a 225 can be no more than 250 h.p. This goes for all hp rated motors. The 2.5 xs had inherent hole shot issues( Not on Allisons for the most part) that is why they did away with that motor and went to the 3.0 liter version of the xs in 225 and 250 hp. The 2.5 motor running through the 3.0 mid and exhaust was just not cutting the mustard. The 225 Sport XS is better fit due to its torque and the ability of a 1:62 sporty...

TBuck....I will be hollering at you pretty soon to see what my next prop will wind up being! Love your XR2002 boat. Sure miss the XR2002 that I had several years back. I bet my 2.5XS would be an awesome lake motor on a XR!!
