If you are set at 1/4'' below you might want to lowering it to 1/2''. As was already mentioned the Performer 28'' would be a good on to try as well as a 29 Mazco RE3.

i have tried a 30 mazco,27 mazco, 28 alley cut prop, 29 hoss and the best run yet has been on the limtier with a 26 trophy at 83 mph. i turned the 30 mazco to 6500 rpms. i have the motor at 1/4" below the pad with 14.5 " of set back. i have an expericened allison owner going with me and it is stumping both of us. the motor has a tag on it that says max rpm 6500. is there anybody here that is around the scottsboro al area that has any other ideas. i have called reynolds racing marine and he suggested a 28 lighting et prop. jacos said that the trophy props were the best. i have ran out of props in my area to try. thanks again for all of your comments.

You shoud at least give Todd at hydromotive a call. Hes an allison owner, and is a helluva guy. At the very least, hes gonna give you some good input for your needs, and if you pick up a prop from him, youll be happy, guaranteed. Just my opinion

I personally think you are wasting your time experimenting with different props at this point. I believe you should have your motor checked out by a qualified mechanic because something must be wrong with it.

The full power rpm range for the pro max is 6000 to 6500 RPM and the rev limiter is set at 6750 ( 225X set at 6850 ).

The 26 trophy on the limiter should give you 86 to 88 MPH depending on load.
Some of your other three blade props should get 90+ .

I would look at your setup again --- balance etc. ; and try raising your motor.

If you can spin to the limiter with a 26, I don't think the problem is the motor.

SPD663,

My fishin' bud has the exact same boat as yours and exact same engine. Fastest prop, so far, on his is a 4 blade Hoss Hyperdrive in 30 pitch. Second fastest prop is a 30 pitch Lightning ET. 96 and 98 mph, both bumping the limiter. He changed out his ECU to a Brucato ECU and we are now spinning it to 7200, but using 28pitch props (good for fishin' load).

It will cost about $250 to $400 to get your limiter re-set. If it were me, I'd sure consider a Brucato ACU or ECU, but I would not spin the engine much tighter than 7200 because it has cast, side pin pistons. With new, forged, top pin pistons you could really spin it up. Don't mess with props until you figure out what you are going to do with the limiter, then prop away!

Just my $.02
