I know that a new XR2001 with a 15" 200XS went just over 100, the 2002 should run mid hi 90's at least?

Re: 2013 xr-2002

Whatever it cost to buy one it would be worth 90% of that in 5 years and 100% in 10 years. My understanding is one of the 1997's has been offered at $40k with motor. Gohr probably would not even discuss selling his. I would rather have a composite Xr2002 for $25k than a cf Xr2001 at $50k or whatever they got for them. What did a new XR2002 cost with trailer in 1986?

Re: 2013 xr-2002

I had the coin and was ready to buy a new one, talked to Nancy and just had the gut feeling it wouldn't happen unless I ordered all the required orders that Allison wanted. There were lots of wants but not many willing to come off the coin. I couldn't afford to order them all so I did what any good Allison owner would do and found and bought a 89 XR2002 from Jack Barsh!

In today's world that's a good combo Allison/Barsh, got jack to do it in exactly the color I wanted, yellow of course. My suggestion is if you really want one go find one and have it redone/restored by a quality worker ( there are several) and go have fun with a timeless boat

I think I know why the factory is ho-hum about building the boats. Several factors. The molds will be re-furbished to insure a good product. None of us would want it any other way whether we were buying one new or not. Period. The small suppliers for hardware have had a hard time surviving and they would have to change little things around. Little things cost time and money. Nancy told me they were having a hard time getting parts for all models because of supplier issues. In my opinion the main reason is that Darris got his satisfaction out of the very first boat out of the mold in 1983. He is an innovator. His time and intellectual capital is invested in the next, and the next and the next project. At the end of the day he just isn't interested in re-visiting that boat. Fact is it is his ball, playing field and rule book.

By the way Mr. Conklin is correct. If you want one the best path is to buy a used one and have it restored. There are several out there. Nelson Edens has one. Dick Werner has one. There will be more hitting the classifieds by Spring.

I don't think the STV is faster, uglier yes, faster no. If Glen Rynolds,David Pou or numerous top guys wanted to go 150mph in an Allison I have no doubt they would, ive seen them run 128mph in the 1/4 10 years ago.The reason you see higher STV numbers is because the STV doesn't have to be DRIVEN like the Ally.Im not saying a STV 140mph guy isn't a driver im saying you need a little something more to do it in a V bottom. The xr ran 136mph with a 2.4 about 30 damn years ago im sure if Glen was 22 years old again and had a 2.5 we would see 150plus...

Re: 2013 xr-2002

I owned that Stv that Dixon drove, 143 in the video and 151.5 later. To say you didn't have to drive it is an understatement.
Reality is, there is no hope in hell an Allison will go that fast. Power for power it is debatable on what is faster.
Glenn went 130, Owen went 126. The hp is available today to go faster, the boats are not. Dixon was pulling so hard he figures it would have gone 160, but ran out of gearcase. Consider that this was a speedy, you need to run lower on an Allison..... Anyone care to try it?
The xr 2002 is likely the fastest sub 300 hp boat (sans tunnels) ever built.

Glen has been 136mph,the nearly 130mph was in a two way average about 5/8ths of a mile correct? Shook has been nearly 130mph in a bass boat and a stock drag .Someone may figure what they could run just as I figure the Allison will run as fast as a STV ,it just isn't something the right person has tried yet in the Allison. I still think the Allison will win most of the races by average guys on average lakes around the US

i have had guys up here tell me stay away from stv's ,they are an unforgiving boat. you will die in one of those, you don't see anyone dying in an ally. that guy fast phil,my buddy james sold his diamond stv to a guy and it hooked so hard that it put him through the side and killed him. has anyone ever died in an ally that anyone knows of?
