There were two tests. He did a test with his personal SS2000 with a 260 with bolt-ons that ran 121 if I remember right. Then there was another story with Darris's personal (I believe) SS-2000 with a 115 Ficht Evinrude that ran 73 MPH or so. It was very impressive.

I remember a prop test Tiger did with his ss2000. He ran a ton of props and if I remember correctly, the hoss triton and an old RE3 he had ran best overall. I also remember a couple articles about a maroon and white xb2003 with a 200 or 225 ss pmax that ran some awesome numbers. I would love to get my hands on some of those old articles, since I actually have an allison now!

Does anybody have electronic archives of those older allison articles? I've checked the website several times, but their archive function is fairly selective and doesn't go back near far enough!

I remember throwing all those magazines away one day while cleaning up for a college move. I remember thinking why did I ever hold on to those old issues and that I would probably never read them again! Wrong, which ended up not being the only thing I was wrong about back then!!!!!

I happen to have all of these articles.

Tiger tested a SS2000 with a 2.5 EFI 260 in the May 2000 HOTBOAT magazine. He tried six different propellers.

Trailer Boats January 1999 tested a SS2000 with a 115 Evinrude.

Bass and Walleye Boats has had a bunch of Allison tests:

March 2002 - Nosecone shootout using a XB2003 with a 225X and a 200XS.

October 1998 - XB2003 with 150 Evinrude

April 1999 - XB 2002 with 150 Mercury

August 1998 - 225 Promax on a XB2003

Hope that helps.

Hey Mike,

I've got a xb2003/225 pmax combo and would be very interested in the bottom line results of the 1998 and 2002 tests. If it's not too much trouble, please post prop, mph, motor mods, ect.....if you get a chance. I've slept a few times since I last read those articles!

Thanks!

XB-2003 w/150 Ficht
0-30 6.9
top speed 76.5 at 5800
29 SRX
15.5" setback
propshaft even with pad

March 2002
XB 2003 w/225X
32 modified chopper 2
J&J modified torquemaster
100 even with spooky handling, attributed to big prop
thought it would run better with 1.62 or 1.75 and a smaller prop

March 2002 nose cone shoot out, same boat as above
XB 2003w/200XS
91.4 at 6850 with sportmaster
89.6 at 6700 with Hydromotive
92.2 at 6790 with Bob's
93.4 at 6800 with J&J
all with 30" ET, all speeds with two aboard
95 even at 6900 with just driver
driver got wet trying the chopper from the 225X test

April 2002 Hydromotive prop test, same rig as March
XB 2003w/200XS
30 Hydromotive T4X
96.4 with just driver, much easier to drive
"couple" mph slower with two on board

Ever since I read this test I wanted to try a 30 T4X on my SS2000. This year:)

January 99 Trailer Boats
SS2000 w/115 Ficht
26 Laser
76.2 with just driver, 72 with two
No nose cone
Same boat with Bob's nosecone and 30 ET, 81 with one, 78 with two
830 lb boat, not a lightweight

Thanks for giving me a reason to dig up these magazines.

I'd like to see John's top end numbers on the 260 SS2000. I used to have them electronically, but no more.

Really appreciate that data. The most impressive number to me is the April 2002 runs with the T4X. 96.4 with the 200xs, in my opinion, is smoking! That thing was turning up some rpms. I wonder what the stock rev limiter is on those motors? I've got the older style pmax with the 6750 limiter and had no idea the xs motor was spinning that high in stock form. Impressive.

I could be wrong but I don't believe the SS2000 w/115 F. weighed 830#. If the boat was
Pearl white/Royal blue it was a light layup.

Either way, it would be fun as hell to have an 80 mph boat with only a 115. :gasp

LOL Mike aint we talkin about YOUR hull? "Nancys demo"...

Thought it weighed in the 6s?
RA

ps
Todd Bucknell and Jeff Whitefield were there at Clifton for alot of the XB03 tests. I think they actually broke in that 03/200XS. It's the same one Chigger Sisco or Wild Bill can't remember, they raised it up 1.5" above pad and spun the boat but was running mighty impressive #s for a 200 greenie motor!

The 80 mph w/115 boat was white with blue trim.

I think it's doable. Mark Smiley's been the closest. Mark got 97 with a lightly modified Pro Max 150 on an SS2000.
